What if you could get to know someone before you saw what they looked like?
That is the question behind Odasiti.
Now we're looking for the first 1,000 Australians willing to help us find out what happens when people actually try it.
No reality show.
No producers.
No cameras following you around.
Just real people meeting differently.
Change the order, not the importance of attraction
Most dating apps introduce the photograph first.
Odasiti changes the sequence.
You begin without profile photos or videos. Instead, two people can gradually get to know one another through:
Compatibility games → text → voice notes → live call → meet in person.
That meeting is the first time you see each other.
We are not pretending physical attraction does not matter.
Of course it can.
We're asking something much narrower:
Does appearance always need to make the first decision?
A photograph can rule someone in or out within seconds.
Odasiti gives conversation, humour, values, personality and curiosity a chance to arrive before that decision gets made.
Not forever.
Just long enough to see what else might happen first.
This isn't Love Is Blind
Reality television helped make sight-unseen dating part of popular culture.
But you shouldn't have to become a contestant on a television programme to find out what it feels like to get to know somebody before seeing them.
There are no pods on Odasiti.
Nobody is asking you to get engaged.
Nobody is determining how quickly your relationship should progress or what it should become.
You decide whether to take each next step.
Odasiti simply changes the order in which some of the information arrives.
What am I actually signing up for?
A place on the waitlist.
That's it.
Joining does not mean agreeing to go on a date.
It does not mean paying anything today.
It does not require you to upload a profile photograph.
When access becomes available in your country, we'll let you know.
Then you can decide whether you still want to try the experiment.
Why the first 1,000?
Because connection requires people.
A dating experiment with twelve people scattered across a country is not much of an experiment.
We need enough people for different personalities, ages, backgrounds, cities and perspectives to have a genuine opportunity to encounter one another.
So our first milestone is simple:
1,000 people willing to try.
What might happen if the person got a chance before the picture?
Who are we looking for?
Adults who are genuinely open to meeting someone.
Perhaps you're tired of swiping.
Perhaps you're perfectly comfortable with conventional dating apps but curious about trying something different.
Perhaps dating without photographs sounds exciting.
Perhaps it sounds slightly terrifying.
All of those reactions are useful.
We're not casting characters.
We're building a community.
You do not need to believe love is blind. You just need to be curious enough to try something different.
Why Australia?
Because Odasiti was built here.
Our waitlists are open internationally, and the long-term experiment has never been intended to stop at Australia's borders.
But every idea needs somewhere to begin.
We would quite like an Australian dating experiment built by an Australian startup to get its first proper chance in Australia.
And if you’re reading this from the United States, you’re part of the experiment too. Your local waitlist is already open, so you can join now and help build the Odasiti community in the United States while Australia works towards its own first 1,000.
Then we see where the world takes it.
What happens when two people finally meet?
We don't know.
That's rather the point.
There may be immediate attraction.
There may not be.
Some connections may become relationships. Some may become friendships. Others may simply end there.
Odasiti cannot manufacture chemistry, and we wouldn't want it to.
What we can change is what had the opportunity to develop before chemistry was tested face-to-face.
By the time someone walks towards you for the first time, they may already be a familiar voice.
Someone who makes you laugh.
Someone whose values you've begun to understand.
Someone you've actually been looking forward to speaking with.
You simply haven't seen them yet.
Would you try it?
Modern dating has become very good at showing us more people, more quickly.
Odasiti is trying something different.
For a little while, we take one thing away.
The photograph.
And give everything else a chance to speak first.
For a little while, we take one thing away. The photograph. And give everything else a chance to speak first.
What if you could get to know someone before you saw what they looked like?
We'd like to find out.
